HELMUT KIESEWETTER

Frankenheim 1947, Germany

Painter, sculptor, photographer and draughtsman, creates as well installations, performances and other artistic activities.
In Cologne, he studied Philosophy, Art History, Archaeology and Fine Arts at the Academy of Art in Düsseldorf with Schiff and Callahan.

Kiesewetter began his exhibition activity in Wuppertal, followed by exhibitions in Italy, Australia, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Germany and Russia.

The artist applies an unique technique for his abstract oil paintings with very complex relief structures. In the work we can see filigree brushstrokes that remind us of mountains, seas, clouds, fire… and that invite us to take a holistic approach to the analytical-conceptual and the haptic-sensual.

Kiesewetter’s works not only appeal to the sense of sight, but also to deeper layers of our experience. All his artistic practice can be understood as a contribution against the gradual disappearance of the individual in modern times.
