PETER HERMANS
PETER HERMANS
1945 Heerlen, Netherlands
Graduated in Fine Arts from the Stads Academie Maastricht and College of Art, Toronto, Canada. Lives and works for long periods in the Netherlands, Canada and the United States.
Two clear stages are related to his work: the first influenced by the Cobra group, characterized by the free expressionism of the unconscious, dynamism and primitivism; the second by cubism, where cheerful shapes and colours fuse recognition and abstraction.
In Canada he works mainly as a sculptor (making sculpture and stained glass) exhibiting in multiple galleries and museums. Since 1988 he moved to the Canary Islands where he developed his passion for painting. His works cannot be captured at a glance; they invite you to discover their hidden meanings, their private and intimate world.
His goal is not only to create a beautiful image, but, above all, he wants a powerful, stimulating and exciting experience for the viewer.
